On the heels of his USA Today op-ed, Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor urged GOP members to “support the deficit super committee created by the debt deal.”
Hearing that some of his members might welcome the cuts triggered by lack of super comiittee support, Rep. Cantor stressed the critical need that the efforts of the bipartisan commission enjoy the full support of the Republican Conference. As noted in The Hill, the House Majority Leader acknowledges the trigger would be unnecessary and induce more uncertainty and worse policy outcomes than compromise.
