High-Fiving Jeb Bush

No Labels is high-fiving former Florida Governor Jeb Bush for commenting that far right ideologues now have so much power in the Republican party that his father George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, wouldn’t be welcome.

“They would have a hard time if you define the Republican Party — and I don’t — as having an orthodoxy that doesn’t allow for disagreement, doesn’t allow for finding some common ground," Bush said. He optimistically called the hyper-partisan climate of Congress "temporary”, citing the Reagan/H.W. Bush era as a time when “they got a lot of stuff done with a lot of bipartisan support."

Bush also lamented that the Obama Administration’s hasn’t been more open to working across the aisle, saying, “His first year could have been a year of enormous accomplishment had he focused on things where there was more common ground."

No Labels is working to create a politics where it’s possible for our leaders to work across the aisle and where cooperation isn’t viewed as disloyalty. Jeb Bush should be commended for trying to ensure that there is space for problem solvers in the Republican Party.  Now, we need elected Republicans and Democrats to do the same. Up top, Jeb.
