High-Fiving Orrin Hatch

No Labels is high-fiving Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) for saying experience and “the respect of both sides” is what gets things done in Washington -- not wild claims and promises.

Hatch faces a primary election challenge from the right for the Senate seat he has held since 1977. Respect from both sides is tough to achieve in Congress, and with a growing number of problem-solving senators retiring -- like Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Ben Nelson (D-NE) -- and others, like Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN), facing difficult paths to re-election, Congress needs more members who are willing to come to the table and find solutions.

Congress might be more gridlocked now than ever before. But one simple truth has not changed: that it takes the respect of both sides in Congress to craft legislation that moves America forward. Even if many in Washington are not willing to do what it takes, we commend Senator Hatch for standing strong.
