Jobs for U.S.

Today, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced he is collaborating with Opportunity Finance Network to collect $5 donations from Starbucks customers to fund loans to small businesses and community groups.

Starting Nov. 1, the Create Jobs for USA program will provide customers who donate $5 with a red, white and blue wristband that says “indivisible.”

All this after Schultz teamed with No Labels last month to put on a town hall addressing issues with confidence in the United States. More than 100,000 citizens tuned in to listen to Schultz and No Labels Co-Founders John Avlon, Robert S. Kaplan and Lisa Borders, and President of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget Maya MacGuineas.

When Washington fails, Americans across the country have to step up and ensure our country continues to move forward. But everyone can do something. Americans speak out, like Schultz, when things are going in the wrong direction. Americans find common sense solutions, even when their leaders are blinded by hyper-partisanship. And most of all, Americans stand up and act when it is clear government is not functioning.

“It’s time to remember that we is always greater than me and that there is no greater force on earth than the will of the American people,” Schultz says in his letter. “Let’s pull together. Let’s pull our neighbors, our friends and our fellow Americans into opportunity with us. And let’s get to work.”
