The Stakes are Too High

Without a deal on the debt crisis, America is facing the possibility of defaulting on our debt in just 18 days on August 2. Incoming revenue will only cover 55% of our bills -- our leaders will have to decide whether they should continue to pay our troops, issue Social Security checks, or fulfill our numerous other obligations. Not only that, as the international markets sense that our ability to pay our bills is coming into question, interest rates will surely rise. Whether Americans want to take out a student loan or finance their mortgage, we will all shoulder the burden of our leaders’ irresponsibility.
We’re out of time and money, and yet our leaders continue to gamble with our country’s future. The debt crisis isn’t a Republican or Democratic problem, it’s a national problem. Americans are tired of hearing zero compromise and no deal, and we need your help to demand bipartisan solutions from our elected officials.

12 Ways to Make Congress Work!
- 1. No Budget, No Pay
If Congress can't pass a budget and all annual spending bills on time, members of Congress should not get paid.
- 2. Up or Down Vote on Presidential Appointments
All presidential nominations should be confirmed or rejected within 90 days of the nomination.
- 3. Fix the Filibuster
Require real (not virtual) filibusters and end filibusters on motions to proceed.
- 4. Empower the Sensible Majority
