UPGRADED: Red Flagging Richard Mourdock

UPDATE: Yesterday, No Labels hit Richard Mourdock with a second yellow flag in just two months, but after doing an instant replay (and getting feedback from our supporters), we’ve decided this foul deserves an upgrade to a red flag.

So with that, No Labels is throwing a red flag at Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock, after he popped up on our radar for the second time for his short-sighted comments in an interview with The Indianapolis Star.

Mourdock said “we need less bipartisanship in Congress” and if elected, he would devote most of his time to campaigning to ensure his party has the majority. And if that means ignoring major national issues like energy policy and the economy, oh well.

Politicians putting politicking ahead of solving the nation’s most important problems is exactly what has brought us to where we are today -- stuck with a polarized and gridlocked Congress. America needs leaders who are willing to work together, not ones who put petty, political point-scoring ahead of positive, practical problem-solving.

Mourdock has given up. His attitude says that we can’t change the way things are in Congress, so we should just go along with a broken system. More hyper-partisanship for everyone.

This is exactly the wrong attitude. Progress is possible -- we know it. And Indiana voters have a clear choice in this upcoming primary election: making Congress work -- or not.
