What We Do

No Labels supports reforms, leaders and legislation that will help fix America’s broken government and break the stranglehold that the extremes currently have on our political process.

The government in Washington, DC clearly won’t find these solutions without a concerted push from the American people.

No Labels believes our leaders will listen if we make our voices heard – and we are planning to make some noise in 2012 and beyond.

Since No Labels launched in December 2010, our supporters have been preparing for the moment when they can swing into action to effect real change in our government.

That moment has arrived.

Our 2012 Make Congress Work! campaign is our first organized grassroots campaign. We are starting with Congress because it is the epicenter of dysfunction in Washington. Our dozen common sense proposals – ranging from fixing the filibuster and reducing negative campaigning, to curbing the power of special interest pledges – can have an immediate, positive impact on how our government works. Most of our proposals could be adopted all at once when the next Congress convenes in January 2013.

Although Make Congress Work! will be No Labels’ first big campaign, it certainly will not be our last. In the months and years ahead, we will tackle other problems that are causing hyper-partisanship and gridlock in our government, including the broken primary election process and the gerrymandering that effectively allows politicians to draw their own districts.

We don’t know exactly where this journey will take us, but we’re bringing as many Americans as we can along for the ride.
