No Labels Throws Yellow Flag at Senator DeMint

DeMint's Hyper-Partisan Remarks Get It Wrong, Voters Will Reward Bipartisan Solutions WASHINGTON, D.C. –

Today, No Labels is throwing a yellow flag at Senator Jim DeMint for threatening the full faith and credit of the United States by using scare tactics and threats to actively discourage lawmakers from working together to solve our fiscal crisis. In the latest example of extreme, hyper-partisan rhetoric, Senator DeMint has threatened that lawmakers will lose their jobs if they raise the debt ceiling without a balanced budget amendment and deep across-the-board spending cuts.

"Bully politics is no way to govern a country,” stated Nancy Jacobson, No Labels Co-Founder. “The American people want to see more jobs and a better future for their children. If lawmakers focus on finding solutions, the American people will reward them with their vote.”

"Intimidation and fear is not going to move this country forward,” said Mark McKinnon, No Labels Co-Founder. “Senator DeMint’s extreme comments are discouraging to the nearly seventy percent of Americans who worry the fiscal crisis will harm their job security.” [Full Poll Results]

No Labels urges other lawmakers to ignore Senator DeMint’s comments and continue to work towards achieving a bipartisan solution to our fiscal crisis. No Labels is a national citizens' movement of Independents, Democrats, and Republicans that urges bipartisan cooperation in the interest of common sense solutions.
