Rep. Jeff Flake Becomes 68th Co-Sponsor of No Budget, No Pay Act

Arizona Lawmaker Supports No Labels Proposal to Dock Congressional Pay for Late Budget and Spending Bills

Last week Rep. Jeff Flake became a co-sponsor of the No Labels-backed No Budget, No Pay Act (H.R. 3643/S. 1981), which will withhold pay for members of Congress if they fail to pass a concurrent budget resolution and all 12 annual spending bills on time. Rep. Flake’s support brings the count to 68 bipartisan co-sponsors for the legislation.

“By co-sponsoring No Budget, No Pay, Congressman Flake is sending a clear message to Arizonans that he understands Congress must be held to the same standards as every American worker,” said No Labels Co-Founder Mark McKinnon. “Our budget process is broken. Congress hasn’t passed a budget and annual spending bills on time in the last 15 years. This chronic lateness has lasting fiscal consequences and No Budget, No Pay is a big first step in addressing the issue.  We look forward to Congressman Flake’s continued leadership as we work to turn this bill into law.”
