Rep. Randy Hultgren Becomes Co-Sponsor of No Budget, No Pay Act

Illinois Representative Supports No Labels Proposal to Withhold Congressional Pay for Late Budget and Spending Bills

Late last week Rep. Randy Hultgren became a co-sponsor of the No Labels-backed No Budget, No Pay Act (H.R. 3643/S. 1981), which will suspend pay for members of Congress should they fail to pass a concurrent budget resolution and all 12 annual spending bills on time. Rep. Hultgren’s support brings the total count to 85 bipartisan co-sponsors for the legislation.

“Congressional gridlock is embodied by its broken budget process; Congress hasn’t passed a budget and all spending bills on time once in the last 16 years," said No Labels Co-Founder Mark McKinnon. "No Budget, No Pay will force members of Congress to solve this issue by working together to perform their basic responsibility as lawmakers: passing a budget and all spending bills before the October 1 deadline. Rep. Hultgren has proven to his constituents that he is committed to solving this problem, and his support for No Budget, No Pay will be crucial as we work to get this bill signed into law.”
