Disagreeing on baby names
Democrats and Republicans can’t even agree on baby names! New research from professors at the University of Chicago suggests that parents consider different aspects of naming their child based on their party affiliation. For the survey, the professors took all of the births in the state of California from 2004 — about 500,000 in all. They found that Democratic parents are more likely to give their children unusual names or ones that are influenced by cultural tastes while Republicans picked more popular or traditional names. Democratic areas also favored softer sounding names compared to Republican areas.
