Legislation over congressional pay brings King, Cutler together

WMTW News 8 (Portland, ME)

PORTLAND, Maine – U.S. Senate candidate and former Maine Gov. Angus King and former gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler joined together to support a bill that would tie congressional pay to the federal budget.

King and Cutler both spoke in support of the “No Budget, No Pay” legislation at the “No Labels” forum on the University of New England Portland Campus Friday night. The legislation would stop congressional paychecks if members of Congress do not meet the deadline for passing the federal budget.

“It's very simple. It's very important and people understand it because that's the way we live our lives too,” said Cutler. He added that so far the public support for the legislation has been overwhelming.

Cutler has endorses King in the race for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Olympia Snowe.
