A budget is essential to fiscal planning. Every successful business has one. Most households have budgets.
People in homes and businesses without a budget might find themselves running out of money at inopportune times. Even if we don’t have a written budget we know we must balance income and spending.
One of the most important duties of Congress is to prepare a budget. However, not since 1995 has Congress passed a budget and spending bill on time.
One proposed solution is the “No Budget, No Pay” bill. It was first proposed by a group called “No Labels.” Under this proposal, if members of Congress don’t pass a budget on time they don’t get paid.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan for co-sponsoring this bill.
While we may not agree on every last point, surely we can all agree that Congress should do its job.
