The U.S. is too dependent on foreign oil.

Since the 1970s OPEC embargo, American leaders have understood that the U.S. is far too vulnerable to supply disruptions and price spikes in international oil markets. But there has been a lot more talk than action. We need U.S. leaders to commit to reducing American reliance on oil, particularly in our transportation sector.

Government agencies that are large buyers of vehicles — such as the Department of Defense and the U.S. Postal Service — should prioritize the purchase of vehicles that run on natural gas electricity.
