An encouraging Oval Office meeting

No Labels has launched a full court press to persuade Speaker Mike Johnson to hold a vote on the bipartisan Defending Borders, Defending Democracies Act.

This bipartisan legislation, introduced by Problem Solvers Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick and Jared Golden, would take essential steps to secure our border while delivering needed aid to our allies in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific.

Today, President Biden and the “Big Four” of Congress – House Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell – met for a frank discussion on these pressing priorities, as well as the looming government shutdown.

It was a good, productive first step, and we continue to believe that the Defending Borders, Defending Democracies Act is the best starting point for getting a solution through Congress.

Yesterday, we asked for your help in raising funds to air our new advertisement highlighting the need for a vote on this critical legislation. You can view the ad, which makes a powerful case for this bipartisan bill, here.

We’ve been overwhelmed by how many members of the commonsense majority have already pitched in to help secure airtime. But we’re not there yet.

Today, we’re once again asking for your help in making sure Speaker Mike Johnson hears loudly and clearly from our movement that this is what Americans are demanding at a time of crisis.

The meeting at the White House today shows that momentum is on our side. We need to keep up the pressure, and we can’t do it without you.
