The United States continues to outspend the People’s Republic of China in defense, but China has been rapidly increasing its rate of military spending. And China has the world’s largest number of active military personnel, outpacing runner-up India by more than 500,000 troops. The U.S. has the world’s third-highest number of active personnel.
